Ligue 2. Shock between Laval and GF38, Angers in ambush, FC Annecy at the bottom… The challenges of the 16th day

Laval, leader of the championship, receives third Grenoble for the poster of the 16th day of Ligue 2 on Saturday, from which second Angers hopes to benefit by facing Ajaccio.

The Laval residents, well established at the top of the standings with 32 points, can leave the Grenoblois eight points behind in the event of a home victory at 7:00 p.m. and take another step in the race for promotion.

Facing a team that has only lost twice this season, the Mayennais will want to continue after their 2-0 victory at Dunkirk last weekend.

But a setback against the Isérois could benefit the Angevin runner-up (30 pts), who will try to obtain a tenth victory this season in Ajaccio to take the lead in the championship.

The SCO remains in a reference match against Caen on Monday (3-0 victory) but will have a lot to do on the pitch of the Corsicans, eighth, still undefeated at home.

In fourth place with 26 points, Auxerre can improve their 0-0 draw in Bastia with the reception of Quevilly-Rouen at Abbé-Deschamps.

But the AJA must be wary of the surprising Palois, fifth with 25 points, and who can ride on their good momentum against the penultimate, Dunkirk.

The Béarnais remain on a prestigious victory in the Chaudron (2-1) against the Greens.

After three defeats in a row, Saint-Etienne must bounce back against Amiens to stay in contact with the Béarnais and fifth place, synonymous with the play-offs for accession to Ligue 1.

In the second part of the ranking, the day will open with a poster between the Girondins (13th, 18 pts), who will want to continue on the path to redemption after two consecutive successes, and Troyes (17th, 13 pts), whose Australian coach Patrick Kisnorbo was fired after the defeat against Guingamp on the last day.

Valenciennes, dead last with just one victory this season, hosts Annecy to get back on track.
