Liverpool impressed spectacularly with two late goals against Fulham

Coach Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC caused a spectacle in the English Premier League. The German football coach’s team defeated FC Fulham 4:3 (2:2) in a very exciting game on Sunday. With their seventh home win in their seventh match, the Reds remain two points behind league leaders Arsenal. Champions Manchester City fell back to third place after an equally extraordinary 3:3 (2:1) against Tottenham Hotspur.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made it 1-0 after 20 minutes. England’s international player shot a perfect free kick from around 25 meters onto the bottom edge of the crossbar. Since the ball went into the goal off the back of Fulham keeper Bernd Leno, the goal was counted as an own goal. The former Bundesliga goalkeeper played with a bandage on his head since the early stages after a collision with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

Somewhat surprisingly, the club from West London equalized 1-1 through Harry Wilson (24th). With the next brilliant long-range shot from Argentina’s world champion Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool were ahead again (38th). The guests equalized again through Kenny Tete (45th + 3). Goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, who replaced the ailing regular goalkeeper Alisson, didn’t look good.

After a long, quiet second half, things got wild in the final phase. Fulham’s Bobby De Cordova-Reid shocked Liverpool with a header to make it 2-3 (80′). Former Stuttgart player Wataru Endo (87th) and Arnold again just a minute later turned the match around at Anfield Road.

The draw between Manchester City and Tottenham was also spectacular. Former Bundesliga professional Son Heung-Min scored for Spurs to make it 0-1 (6th). Three minutes later he scored the next goal – but into his own net to make it 1-1. Phil Foden (31st) and Jack Grealish (81st) each shot Pep Guardiola’s City team into the lead. Giovani Lo Celso (69′) and Dejan Kulusevski (90′) managed to equalize twice for the guests from London.
