Gremio beat Vasco da Gama 1-0 in Porto Alegre on the penultimate date of the Brasileirão, with a great goal from Uruguayan Luis Suárez, who played his last game in that city.

The scene was exciting from the beginning, with fans cheering for the start of the match and wearing masks of the Uruguayan striker himself, and a large audience to applaud, through a spectacular reception, the man from Salta as a way of thanking him.

Suárez, 36 years old, had one more dream night throughout his career and, furthermore, from a football perspective, he once again left great sensations, proving to be a star.

At the beginning of the second half, when the first minute had barely passed, the Gunslinger stood at the edge of the area, received and took a shot to place that inflated the nets and opened the scoring. Previously, he had assisted, in a great way by executing a free kick, to Rodrigo Ely at 34′, but, due to a millimeter offside, the play was annulled.

The Uruguayan national team attacker reached 24 goals throughout the 2023 season and scored his 15th goal in the league. In total, he scored 24 goals, provided 17 assists and played 52 games.

The Porto Alegre team, already qualified for the 2024 Copa Libertadores and which had Suárez playing the entire match, placed fourth in the championship standings, a product of 65 units.
