“A versatile player willing to take on the challenge”

Once his arrival was confirmed, Paco García spoke about Martynas Zigmantavicius and what his arrival means for the team. “He is a 27-year-old player, 1.87 meters tall, who has spent his entire career in Lithuania, in the first division. He comes from Atletas Kaunas, in the second league there, and is versatile, handles both hands well, is an excellent penetrator and has an acceptable outside shot. These are not dates very given to being able to find and bring players, with the difficulties of finding someone who would adapt to our contractual and sporting needs. He can be of great help to us in these moments that the team is having with the loss of Mike Torres and who Martynas can cover perfectly.”

Pepe Catalina, the sports director of UEMC RVB, delved into his profile and spoke about his arrival. “Since Mike Torres’ injury was confirmed, we were clear that we had to do everything possible to find a player to replace him during his time on indefinite leave. We have been working intensely to achieve this, within a market that is not very fruitful in terms of the presence of available players, also with the particularity of the case of his temporary contract, although it can be extended in terms of time and even until the end of the campaign, which makes that some players may refuse. In Martynas Zigmantavicius, Zigmas, we have found a player willing to take on the challenge, which we have already seen in the past. He is in shape, he played his last game on December 23 and for that reason, his contract was closed last night. He has been complex about it and his team has made it difficult for him to leave, but he has made an effort to come. His characteristics suit us well, due to his age, conditions and style. He is a powerful player, who attacks the basket well, who sometimes gives the impression of being left-handed because of how well he finishes with his left, who generates for others, he can shoot threes through the dribble and has the intuition to steal balls. He will have to go through an adaptation process to have a positive impact as soon as possible.”
