Milan Premier Padel P1, winning debut for Paquito/Chingotto. Gutierrez and the Italian Pappacena/Marchetti have been eliminated

The second day of the Milano Premier Padel P1 2023 ended just now, last seasonal tournament of the Premier Padel circuit. In an Allianz Cloud that has gradually filled up with each passing hour, the first matches valid for the round of 32 of both tables were played today and the show was certainly not lacking. Let’s see what happened in the most important matches.

In the men’s field, a good first for Paquito Navarro and Federico Chingotto. At their penultimate tournament together before the separation (the last dance will be at the final Barcelona Master of the World Padel Tour, an event scheduled from 14 to 17 December), the Spaniard and the Argentine (no. 4 in the seeding) dominated at debut against the Italian-Argentinians Aris Patiniotis and Facundo Dominguez and they won 6-2 6-4. Now in the next round Paquito and Chingotto will have to deal with last season’s finalists, or Lucas Bergamini/Victor Ruiz (9), emerged victorious today from the match against Goenaga/Martinez with a double 6-3.

Among the big names, Momo Gonzalez/Javi Garrido then found success (7) e Jon Sanz/Jorge Nieto (10). The former defeated Lijo/Cepero with a clear 6-2 6-3, while Sanz/Nieto beat the Italian-Argentine Denis Perno and the Spaniard Jorge Ruiz with a peremptory 6-2 6-1. Nothing to do instead for Sanyo Gutierrez and his cousin Cristian (8), beaten by surprise Rafael Mendez/Javier Rico per 6-3 4-6 6-2.

Milan Premier Padel P1: all three Italian wild cards out, tomorrow it’s the women’s turn

Among the women everything went according to predictions. On the first day of matches valid for the main draw, all the favorites won: Delfina Brea and Bea Gonzalez (seeded no. 3) defeated Caldera/Nogueira 6-1 6-2, the highly anticipated Alejandra Salazar (at his first tournament in Italy after his absence due to injury at the Italy Major Premier Padel in July) e Sofia Araujo (4) won against Martinez/Navarro 6-3 6-0, Tamara Icardo and Virginia Riera (5) beat Collombon/Rufo with a score of 6-2 6-2 and, finally, Jessica Castello and Aranzazu Osoro (6) overcame Aguilar/Canellas with a hard-earned 6-2 6-7(4) 6-3. Unfortunately, however, the Italian wild cards Giorgia Marchetti and Chiara Pappacena were eliminated: the two blues were unable to hurt the Spanish Barrera/Merino and surrendered 6-1 6-4 in an hour and 16 minutes.
