NBA and FFBB Co-Organize Youth Events in Paris as Part of NBA Paris Game

As part of the NBA Paris Game, on January 11 at the Accor Arena, the NBA and the FFBB will co-organize events in Paris for young people.

Two strong entities hand in hand. On January 11, 2024, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets will face each other at the Accor Arena as part of the NBA Paris Game. On this occasion, the NBA and the French BasketBall Federation will co-organize events in Paris for young people, referees and coaches, from January 7 to 12, as during the 2020 and 2023 editions of NBA Paris Week.

“For the third year in a row, the NBA is coming to Paris as part of the NBA Paris Game for a regular season meeting at the Accor Arena. But beyond this meeting on January 11, we are taking the opportunity to make this event a week of celebration around basketball, thanks to a collaboration between the FFBB and the NBA in place since 2010 and reinforced by the programs aimed at youth such as our national Benjamin(e)s Challenge or the Jr NBA League FFBB UNSS,” underlines Jean-Pierre Siutat, president of the FFBB. “Many joint activations are on the program and I am delighted with this lasting partnership between the FFBB and the NBA which once again demonstrates the attractiveness and dynamism of our sport in France. »

On January 7, there’s a 3×3 tournament open to young boys and girls born in 2006, 2007 or 2008. Throughout the day, 12 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams will compete, in NBA outfits and in presence of Amara Sy, to try to win places for the NBA Paris Game.

Conferences with coaching references

On January 8, two conferences will be organized and reserved for high-level FFBB referees, but also from the French championship and those from regional competitions in Île-de-France. Mark Wunderlich and Monty McCutchen, former NBA referees, will host these clinics. The same day, a coaches conference will be held with the participation of coaches from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Paris Basketball.

On January 9, new coaches conference in the presence of members of the Brooklyn Nets staff and coaches of the French Basketball Teams. Vincent Collet (Coach of the French Men’s Team since 2009, European Champion in 2013, Olympic Vice-Champion in Tokyo in 2021, Bronze Medalist at the 2014 and 2019 World Cups, Most successful coach of the French Teams) , Cathy Melain (Assistant Coach of the French Women’s Team since 2021, Coach of the France Women’s BasketBall Pole in LF2, Bronze Medalist at EuroBasket 2023) and a coach from the Brooklyn Nets will host this Clinic.

On January 10, the Benjamin(e)s Challenge, organized by the FFBB in partnership with the Jr NBA program, allows boys and girls, aged 11 to 12, to participate in skill and dexterity tests anywhere In France. After departmental and then regional selections, the 2 winners (1 girl and 1 boy) of the national final will win a trip to the United States.

Finally, on January 12, in co-organization with the NBA and the UNSS, the Draft will be the launch of the Jr NBA League season. 30 Parisian colleges will be able to participate with mixed teams of 10 players and each college will represent an NBA team. After this draw, the children will be able to enjoy 1 hour of training, in outfits provided by the NBA, in the presence of Diandra Tchatchouang and a former French NBA international.
