Press comments on the EM 2024 draw: “Germany, finally!”

The European Championship preliminary round groups have been determined. The draw triggers different reactions – in Spain the press even speaks of a group of death for their national team. The international press reviews of the draw:

Switzerland

„Blick“: “Germany, finally! The stroke of luck in Group A with the hosts gives Murat Yakin a lot of confidence. The Germans themselves are looking forward to Captain Granit Xhaka with mixed feelings.”

“Tages-Anzeiger”: “Finally Germany! The group is particularly attractive because the Swiss will finally meet their big neighbor in a final round. The last time that happened was at the 1966 World Cup. When Xherdan Shaqiri was recently asked about the dream draw, he didn’t have to think twice, he said: Germany. Even though Switzerland has extremely weak qualifications, it is still the second strongest force in this group based on its qualities.”
