Brahim Díaz (26th), assisted by Kroos, scored the opening goal for the Madrilenians. Rodrygo (57th) increased the score to 2-0 after the substitution.
The surprise team FC Girona had previously won another three points. The team won against FC Valencia 2-1 (0-0) and, like Real, has 38 points.
The Uruguayan Cristhian Stuani (83./88.) was the match winner for Girona with a late brace. Hugo Duro (57th) gave Valencia a 1-0 lead.
