Slovenia barely beats Iceland

Without their star Ana Gros, the Slovenes painfully beat Iceland this Thursday (30-24).

Slovenia experienced some difficulty in defeating Iceland (30-24) in the French group at the Women’s Handball World Cup on Thursday in Stavanger (Norway).

The Slovenes, deprived of their star Ana Gros and several major players, made the difference in the last quarter of an hour and share the lead in group D with the Blues (2 pts).

In Group F, Germany and Japan fought a memorable duel, won by the “Mannschaft” at the last second (31-30).

The Japanese had however closed a gap of four goals in the last ten minutes to equalize 15 seconds from the siren by Natsuki Aizawa (10 goals), but Xenia Smits answered at the buzzer after a ball returned a little naively by a Japanese to following a foul called for Germany.
