The facilities of School of Early Childhood and Primary Education ‘Ciudad de Ceuta’ have hosted the first edition of the Tournament throughout the week Solidarity ‘A Toy for a Smile’ organized by the Club Baloncesto Ceuta in favor of Red Cross Youth.
The objective of this tournament is to guarantee that the boys and girls most in need are guaranteed a game. The event was sponsored by the local company Almacenes San Pablo and all the people who have contributed a toy They have obtained a discount voucher that they can do at this company.
The first matches were played on Monday and the tournament has continued until this Thursday with the last day and the presentation of medals to all the members of the participating teams. The tournament schedule is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the CEIP Ciudad de Ceuta sports courts and has had the collaboration of local clubs and the Basketball Federation through the Referees Committee.
After three days of solidarity matches, this Thursday’s day served as a closing event to present the medals and trophies to the participants.
The last day hosted a three-point contest for children, cadets and juniors, a shooting contest and several matches in all categories.
The Red Cross Youth department has had the educational toy project since its inception and currently aims to provide toys to families who are in social difficulty and guarantee the right to play for boys and girls through the “Your Rights in Game”. To all this, we must add the importance that sport has in the city and the visibility that must be given to basketball in social causes that benefit the community.
The toys that have been collected during this charity championship will be donated to the Red Cross, which will distribute them in its campaigns among the most needy in our city.
Anyone who is interested in donating a toy and has not been able to do so directly during the tournament at the school itself can still do so by taking the toys directly to the Red Cross assembly on the second floor of its facilities where the department is located. of the Red Cross Youth, co-organizer of this solidarity tournament.
