S. D. A total of 158 archers have taken part in the Provincial Indoor Archery Championshipevent held at El Batel municipal sports center on Isla Cristina and that was organized for him La Flecha Isleña Sports Club with the collaboration of the Assyrian Archery Club and of Town hall.
In this edition one of the highest participations in recent years has been achieved. That aforementioned and not inconsiderable figure of 158 archers the student is Provincial al regional championship level, where registrations are around 200 athletes.
And important data for the Assyrian Club it is the equality in participation of both sexes, something he has been fighting for for more than a decade, which he is undoubtedly achieving. It is demonstrated by the data of the capital entity in this contest, in which registered 120 athletes, of which 62 were men and 58 women; while if only the figures of the grassroots sport (lower categories), participated 46 athletes, 24 boys and 22 girls. This indicates the good health that archery enjoys in our province.
Furthermore, recently the Club Asirio has signed a collaboration agreement with the Atlantic Cooper Foundation, the Andalusian Beturia Foundation for Health Research (FABIS) and the Santa Águeda Association, to carry out a project that studies the benefit of practicing archery in women with breast cancer, all under the supervision of the Comprehensive Oncology Unit of the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital. This program began last October, among other things it aims to improve the quality of life of cancer patients, in addition to stimulating them with the practice of a rewarding sport. In this province, an important step has already been taken, in which four women have participated in it, in the ‘Bow & Health’ category, a good start to encourage their colleagues to practice this discipline.
Nor should we overlook the sensational work that the La Flecha Isleña Sports Club has been doing for more than five years. The islanders, in such a short space of time, have achieved bring more than 30 archers to this championship, Very few clubs in Spain are capable of contributing so many athletes to any event.
