Matej Svancer took sixth place at the Big Air Ski Freestyle World Cup in Beijing on Saturday. Victory went to the American Alexander Hall ahead of Edouard Therriault (CAN) and Andri Ragettli (SUI).
Svancer showed the NBD (never been done) jump from the qualification again and received 92.75 points for the so-called Baron flip, which was the highest single score of the day. On his third run, a switch left double 1440 nollie 180, he wasn’t able to hold his grab as desired, but still impressed with a unique landing.
“On Matej’s third jump we wanted to show something new again, the difficulty here was the landing. This jump would have been very well received by the judges and could have been enough for a podium, unfortunately the grave was not clean,” explains head coach Martin Premstaller. For Daniel Bacher (25th place) and Lukas Müllauer (28) a good jump in qualification was not enough to make it to the strong final.
In the women’s category, the Swiss Mathilde Gremaud won for the third time in a row, while Kirsty Muir (GBR) and Flora Tabanelli (ITA) took second and third place.
