The 100 Best Manga of All Time: Japanese TV Asahi Survey Results

Like every year, various television networks organize surveys to study and analyze the tastes of users who use their content on a daily basis. This time it was the Japanese TV Asahi that invited its viewers to vote the 100 best manga of all timeand here is the total ranking.

The top shown below represents a partial and limited view of the Japanese borders, based on a total of 150,000 responses from unique users. Let’s see the top ten positions together.

Once again the work of Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE, ranks first reiterating its undisputed position with over 33,000 votes, followed by the phenomenon Demon Slayer with 29,000 and Slam Dunk, the spokon signed by Takehiko Inoue, who returned to the cinema with The First Slam Dunk, a film capable of rekindling the passion of long-standing fans. Moving from the podium we find the mystery Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama, now at over 1100 chapters, the shonen par excellence Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama, and Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama, one of the most discussed manga of recent years. It is not surprising to then see Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist and Jojo, shonen famous all over the world, while the presence of another spokon, Haikyuu, is striking! focused on volleyball.

In the ranking there is a substantial preference towards shonen, but there is no shortage of them masterpieces suitable for a more mature audience such as Go Nagai’s Devilman, Berserk by the late Kentaro Miura, or Golgo 13 by Takao Saito.
