The Arena Porte de la Chapelle: A Venue for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Beyond

The Arena Porte de la Chapelle is one of the rare venues that has been designed specifically for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (from July 26 to August 11). A new cultural hub, located north of the French capital, it will host two Olympic disciplines: badminton in singles (women/men) as well as doubles (women, men, mixed) and rhythmic gymnastics (group competition and competition individual), the latter being exclusively reserved for women.

The badminton events will take place from July 27 to August 5 with morning and afternoon sessions. Rhythmic gymnastics will take place from August 8 to 10.

For badminton, the hall will have a capacity of 6,700 spectators. This gauge will rise to 7,000 for rhythmic gymnastics.

Located 2.5 km from Montmartre

The Arena Porte de la Chapelle is located in Paris, not far from the cobbled Montmartre district, cradle of great French artists. The Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur is, for example, located 2.4 km from the sports site.

To get there, the easiest way is to take metro 12 and get off at “Porte de la Chapelle”. This stop is also served by the T3b tramway. The official Paris 2024 website specifies, however, that“in order to avoid the exceptionally high crowds in this station, spectators are recommended to favor the “Rosa Parks” RER E station as much as possible”.

After the Olympics, the Arena Porte de la Chapelle will host other sporting and cultural events. In February 2024, it will become the home of Paris Basketball, its future resident club.
