The ATP Introduces Reforms for Next Gen Tennis Talent in 2024

The ATP wants to take care of the future of young talents and that is why has proposed a series of reforms in its program facing 2024. Under the concept Next Genthe world of tennis has seen the emergence of some of the 10 best rackets on the circuit, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas or Holger Rune.

The first of the modifications is that the age threshold is reduced from 21 to 20 years, so only players born after 2004 will be eligible for the next Next Gen Finals. However, the most interesting has to do with the opportunity to compete in the main draw of an ATP 250 tournament and the qualifying phase of two of the same category.

It will be reserved for players aged 20 or younger who are among the top 250 in the ranking. A condition that will only apply when there are three or more events in the same week.

There are only seven tennis players who meet these requirements, many of whom will not need to take the hand that the ATP offers them.
