The Big Apple Shines: NYC Quarterbacks Win Player of the Week Awards

Two New York quarterbacks voted players of the week at the same time, it was already difficult to imagine when Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones were starting. But having Tommy DeVito and Zach Wilson win this trophy in the same week is downright miraculous. Yes, DeVito and Wilson are probably not the future of their respective franchises. Certainly, there are perhaps players who performed better this week. But the NFL could not miss the opportunity to highlight two great victories obtained by the two quarterbacks of the Big Apple.

In addition to Tommy DeVito, the NFC is putting undrafted rookies in the spotlight this week. Ivan Pace Jr. was brilliant in the hellish match against the Raiders, including a decisive interception at the end of the game. As for Brandon Aubrey, he continues to impress. The Cowboys kicker, 28, took up football in 2019 after a short career as a soccer player. What seemed like a gamble for Dallas was a huge success, as he didn’t miss a single one of the 30 field goals he attempted. Against Philadelphia, he even broke his record, with a 60-yard kick.

Next to all these players, Harold Landry almost seems like a fossil. The Titans linebacker was a major element in his team’s victorious comeback against Miami, with 3 sacks and a constant presence.

Finally, the NFL decided to logically reward the action of the week. On a perfect punt returnTylan Wallace showed off his balancing and slalom skills to give the Ravens victory in overtime against the Rams.
