Great Titans victory in Foligno in a match that was not easy due to the opponent’s ranking (8 won and 5 lost on the eve, just like the Titans) and due to the reduced squad. The result was a very good match in which the blue and whites were almost always in front and which ended at 62-71. At home at Pallacanestro Titano, top performance for Gamberini and Pesaresi, 25 and 24 points respectively.
The match. Favorable start for Foligno in a first quarter full of attacks. 5-2 for the hosts at the start, then Dini scores a couple of important baskets and the two teams overtake each other a couple of times until 16-13. The response passes through baskets by Gamberini and Pesaresi, with the Titans extending to 17-22 before Cola’s triple at the end (20-22 in the 10th minute). Pandolfi’s long-range basket at the start of the second period gives Foligno the +1, with balance still reigning supreme. Dini’s three-point play (27-30), with a nice basket on the baseline and an additional free throw, puts our team ahead for a lead that will remain on similar measures until the break (35-37).
Returning from the locker rooms there is a bitter battle until 43-43, then here is the first real break of the match, with the Titans also biting from behind and with good things from Borello and Monticelli. The guests are also +11 at 48-59, and it is a comforting advantage even if it is not yet definitive. The key to success, in the fourth period, is a defense that concedes very little to Foligno and which allows our team to get within 58-69 shortly before the end on the basket from Gamberini’s elbow. The Titans didn’t give up and achieved an important success.
