Warren Zaire-Emery Set to Make Return to Competition for PSG Alongside Marquinhos

In recent days, a return to competition for Warren Zaire-Emery was mentioned. This Friday morning, Paris Saint-Germain took stock of its infirmary, on the sidelines of the reception of FC Nantes this weekend.

Victim of a sprained right ankle during his first selection (and his first goal) with the France team against Gibraltar in mid-November, Warren Zaire-Emery was initially expected to make his return at the start of 2024. However, the hope of seeing him return to competition more quickly was in order since the club had communicated about the return to the training grounds of its prodigy on Wednesday. “Recovered from his sprained right ankle, Warren Zaire-Emery completed most of the day’s session with the group“, PSG announced.

Enough to imagine that the French international could even be dressed for the crucial match in Dortmund which is looming in the middle of next week.

Two major returns this weekend

Better than that, WZE should even be present in the group this weekend to face FC Nantes. Indeed, during its traditional Friday medical update, the Ile-de-France club removed the 17-year-old midfielder from his infirmary, a sign that he should in all likelihood be called up to Luis Enrique’s group.

Other good news, Marquinhos is also back and is no longer among the injured, as we wrote on Thursday evening. The presence of both is obviously a big plus for PSG, who, as we recall, will be deprived of Ousmane Dembélé at Signal Iduna Park, the Frenchman being suspended for this 6th day of the Champions League.

However, it appears unlikely that Warren Zaire-Emery and even Marquinhos will start this Saturday against FC Nantes. Luis Enrique should, however, offer them a few minutes in the second half.
