The first two pursuers of league leaders Salzburg opened the 27th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Saturday with victories against teams from the midfield. The second-placed Black Wings Linz celebrated a 4-1 win at the Pustertal Wölfen, while Fehervar, one point behind, won 5-3 at home against HC Innsbruck. The remaining four games of the round are scheduled for Sunday, with Salzburg, who are two points ahead, visiting VSV.
For Innsbruck, with a 2-1 lead until the last third break, it looked good for their first win of the season against Fehervar, but the hosts pulled away to 4-2 by the 55th minute. The Tyroleans finally responded to the Tyroleans’ renewed rebellion through Corey Mackin’s goal with a final empty-net goal. For Linz, on the other hand, it was the first away win in a month and a half. Brian Lebler and Graham Knott laid the foundation in the last minute of the first two thirds.
