Attention ! Morocco enters the competition. The semi-finalists of the last World Cup come to CAN 2024 with great ambitions. And to lift the trophy, we must start by beating Tanzania in Group F, Wednesday January 17 in San Pedro.

Follow the match from 6 p.m. with live commentary, hosted by our colleagues from RFI.

With the same team as at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, coach Walid Regragui announced his objective: the title and nothing else! The Atlas Lions have only conquered the continent once in their history, in 1976. A record which does not live up to their status as the best African nation in the Fifa ranking (13th).

The heroes of the World Cup are still there: Yassine Bounou in the goals, Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd and Romain Saïss in defense, Sofyan Amrabat and Hakim Ziyech in the middle and Youssef En-Nesyri, scorer in the quarter-final against Portugal (1-0 ).

The Taifas Stars (taifa means the nation, in Swahili) are still chasing a first victory for Tanzania’s third participation in CAN.

They will be able to rely on their two stars of the nation: the young Novatus Miroshi Dismas (21 years old), defender of Shakthar Donetsk, and captain Mbwana Aly Samatta, of PAOK Salonika.
