Adrian Beltré Elected to Hall of Fame: Toros del Este Congratulate Dominican Baseball Legend

LA ROMANA.- The Board of Directors of the Toros del Este is filled with joy and strongly congratulates Adrian Beltré for his call to the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, elected this Tuesday with 95.1% of the votes of the Baseball Writers Association of the United States.

Considered one of the greatest third basemen of all time, Beltre became the fifth Dominican in history to be immortalized, joining Don Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez, Vlamimir Guerrero and David Ortiz.

In total, in 21 seasons with the Dodgers, Mariners, Red Sox and Rangers, Beltré had 3,166 hits, 477 home runs, 1,707 RBIs, 636 doubles, 5 Gold Gloves, 3 Silver Bats and the third highest WAR (93.5), according to Baseball-Reference, of any third baseman in history.

Beltré began his career in LIDOM with the Azucareros del Este in 1996 when he was only 17 years old and played 30 games in that first season. He donned the purple Romanense uniform again the following year for 40 games.

Due to the club’s hiatus after the ravages of Hurricane Georges, the third baseman played the next two seasons with the Eagles and Stars, respectively.

For life in Dominican baseball, in 137 games he had an offensive line of .267.343.406 with 11 home runs, 21 doubles and 56 RBIs.
