Ajax is interested in Romeo Amane from BK Häcken, Foot Mercato reported on Tuesday. The midfielder can also count on interest from two French clubs. It is unknown which teams these are.
“At the age of 20, this box-to-box midfielder is considered a gem,” writes the French medium. “His performance and above-average technique attract the attention of Ajax and two unknown clubs from Ligue 1.”
Amane is a 1.76m tall central midfielder. The talent plays his matches for the main team of Häcken and is also a youth international of Ivory Coast.
The Ivorian has been under contract in Sweden since January 2022. Häcken took him over from ASEC Mimosas, from Amane’s native country. Since then he has made 59 appearances for the Swedish club, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists.
In the summer of 2023, Ajax was also linked to Amane. At the time, Häcken wanted an amount of around three million euros to get rid of his pupil, but a deal never got off the ground.
Reportedly, KAA Gent and Royal Antwerp were also interested in Amane at that time. It is unknown whether those Belgian clubs are still interested in the midfielder, who can therefore count on interest from clubs in France.
In 2023, Amane was one of a hundred players nominated for the Golden Boy, the award for the best talent aged 21 or younger on European pitches. Jude Bellingham ultimately walked away with the award.
