During an interview given to Tennis Magazine, Alexander Zverev, mainly asked about his diabetes, also spoke about his childhood and the fact that his father did not want him to play tennis. But little Sascha persisted, and he did well.
“My parents are from the Soviet Union. My father worked in the army, but he was also an athlete. There was no lax “do what you want” type of education. But they didn’t force me to play sports. My father never wanted me to play tennis. He didn’t want this life as a tennis player and instead wanted me to do another sport. But I still chose tennis. I was wild, sporty and I traveled a lot. But I never “screwed up”. For example, I never sneaked into a party when I was 15. Even as a child, I was very ambitious and knew what was right and wrong for me. So we return to the subject of diabetes. I think I grew up earlier than the others. I was used to taking responsibility for my life. Maybe my parents had it easier with me in that regard. »
