Assessing the Future of Free Agents for the Dallas Cowboys

Trent Sieg (1 time with DAL) One of the league’s most consistent long snappers coming into 2024 will become a free agent, as Trent Sieg hits the market after one season with special teams coordinator John Fassel’s unit. After building a strong relationship with punter Bryan Anger and kicker Brandon Aubrey in 2023, it’s hard to imagine him heading anywhere else next season.

Chuma Edoga (1 season with DAL) Having consistent depth on the offensive line is hard to find in the NFL, and Chuma Edoga provided it early in 2023 before having a rough outing against Miami. The Cowboys are expected to attack offensive line options in the draft, but could still bring back Edoga to compete for a training camp spot.

Neville Gallimore (4 times with DAL) The rookie contract for defensive tackle Neville Gallimore has expired, and although he remained mostly healthy in his four seasons and was available when needed, the lack of success on the defensive interior is taken into account when looking at Gallimore’s future in Dallas.

Rico Dowdle (4 times with DAL) He served as a complementary running back to Tony Pollard in 2023 and accounted for 505 total yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns. His health before last season was the biggest concern (he only had seven career touches before 2023), but the Cowboys could bring him back to continue competing for a spot next season.

Tyler Biadasz (4 seasons with DAL) The Dallas Cowboys’ starting center next season could be quite the gamble, as Tyler Biadasz’s contract expires on March 13 and there are intriguing center options in the draft. Additionally, a small handful of free agents could also be available. But when you look at what Biadasz brought to the table, he was a Pro Bowler in 2022 and has started all but two games in the last three seasons.

Sean McKeon (4 seasons with DAL) The tight end room saw a lot of changes in 2023 and directly affected Sean McKeon and Peyton Hendershot. After starting the year on the practice squad, McKeon was activated following an injury to Hendershot, but had to go on the reserve/injured list when Hendershot returned. McKeon’s rookie contract is up and the Cowboys will have to decide what McKeon’s future looks like as the oldest tight end in the youngest position room.

CJ Goodwin (6 stints with DAL) The special teams leader for the past six seasons enters free agency after suffering a season-ending pectoral injury that sidelined him for the final 12 games of the regular season. Goodwin will turn 34 next season and is coming off a major injury, so any contract would have to be short-term, if anything.
