Australian Open: Blinkova elimina Rybakina con tie break record – Tennis

Russian Anna Blinkova eliminated world number three, Kazakh Elena Rybakina, from the Australian Open, winning 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 at the end of what turned out to be the longest tie-break in a match unique in the history of the Grand Slam.


Blinkova, n.57 WTA, won the first set and last year’s finalist equalized the score in the second. The match was decided in the third, with a tie-break that lasted 31 minutes, which Blinkova won 22-20. With 42 total points, according to the International Tennis Federation, she surpassed the longest recorded so far, which stopped at 38 points.
