Austria’s Tennis Davis Cup Team Missing Filip Misolic for World Group 1 Play-off Against Ireland

Austria’s tennis Davis Cup team has to make do without Filip Misolic in the World Group 1 play-off duel with Ireland.

The Styrian was unable to make the trip due to a fever. However, ÖTV team captain Jürgen Melzer decided not to be nominated later, as Misolic was only intended as a substitute player should Sebastian Ofner or Dominic Thiem be unable to play in Limerick. The two top ÖTV players arrived at the venue on Wednesday.

After the draw on Friday (12.30 p.m.), the games in the UL Sports Arena are scheduled for Saturday (from 1 p.m.) and Sunday (from 12 p.m.). “We are of course going into the match as favorites. If you look at the rankings, there are no doubts,” Melzer made clear at the pre-draw press conference.

Doubles specialist Lucas Miedler reported the following after the first sessions in the hall: “It’s a solid indoor hard court, a little rougher and slower, the balls bounce well on it.”
