AZ Head Coach Pascal Jansen Thanked After Cup Escape

A day after AZ escaped the cup elimination against the amateurs of Quick Boys, head coach Pascal Jansen was thanked for services rendered.

Pascal Jansen has been at the helm of the Alkmaarders since the end of 2020, but the recent results have been disappointing. After elimination in the Conference League, defeats against PSV and FC Twente recently followed.

Maarten Martens, assistant with the A-team since last summer, will be given the opportunity as head coach until the end of the season.

The 39-year-old former Red Devil already made his mark with the AZ promising team, with which he took the points record in the second division.

Martens also spent most of his playing career at AZ. He won the national title and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2009. He won the cup there in 2013. In our country he trained at Anderlecht and played at Cercle Brugge at the end of his career.
