Former general manager of the Golden State Warriors and architect of the Californian dynasty, Bob Myers left his position this summer to join the world of media. Here he is back in a leadership position, but in a franchise… NFL!
According to insidersESPN Adrian Wojnarowski and Adam Schefter (the NFL’s Woj), Bob Myers has indeed just been hired by the new owner of the Washington Commanders Josh Harris, who bought the NFL franchise in the capital last summer. The role of the former Warriors boss? Support the new ownership group (which also includes Magic Johnson) in the search for a new manager and a new coach.
Ah well Bob Myers is back…
…but in the NFL! ????????????
The Commanders are in Washington, but no connection with the Wizards since the Commanders belong to Josh Harris (owner of the Sixers). https://t.co/jY0fpNASH3

Those who follow the NFL know that the Commanders have just fired Ron Rivera, who was both the team’s coach and head of football operations. Washington finished with the second worst record of the 2023 NFL season and has not had a positive campaign since 2016. Sportingly and culturally, the capital franchise was quite simply the example not to follow in the big football league US.
The new owners aim to radically change the face of this franchise. How ? By cleaning up the front office as well as the coaching staff. So this is where Bob Myers comes in.
“I’ve known Bob for a long time and watched him build a team that won four titles and a franchise that had great success in Golden State. He’s someone who’s innovative, someone who’s thoughtful, who has a lot of connections in the sports world, and who understands what it takes to build a winning franchise.”
– Josh Harris
Former player agent and general manager of the Warriors in 2012 (two years after Joe Lacob bought the Warriors), Myers transformed a long-moribund franchise into a true dynasty. The presence of Stephen Curry obviously made his task much easier, but Bob was able to build a war machine around the sniper to allow Golden State to win four NBA titles in six finals played. Already knowing the owner of the Commanders Josh Harris, who is also the owner of the Sixers, Bob Myers is now taking on a new challenge, on the American football fields. He will be accompanied by Rick Spielman, former general manager of the Minnesota Vikings (NFL).

In addition to his new position with the Commanders, Bob Myers will continue in his role as NBA analyst at ESPN.
