Senegal started their defense of the African Cup of Nations title in Ivory Coast with a secure derby victory. Team boss Aliou Cisse’s selection defeated Gambia 3-0 in Yamoussoukro on Monday. Other opponents in Group C are Cameroon and Guinea.
Pape Gueye gave the Senegalese the lead with the first chance (4th) after preparatory work by star striker Sadio Mane. After a red card for Gambia’s Ebou Adams shortly before the half-time whistle, Lamine Camara made everything clear with two goals (52nd, 86th). LASK midfielder Ebrima Darboe was used for Gambia until the 83rd minute.
