The three presidential candidates close their pre-campaigns this Thursday with the calendar set by the INE, which paralyzes proselytizing events until March 1, when the campaigns begin with a view to the June 2 election.
Once the pre-campaign is closed, the period known as inter-campaign begins, where the INE stipulates that “so-called express support for or against candidate(s)” are prohibited.
It also vetoes the participation of leaders in debates, announcements or round tables “where there is more than one candidate”; and points out that it is time for the formations to “resolve possible internal differences”, to finish preparing their candidacies.
This electoral interlude ends with the start of the official campaign, which will be on March 1 and will last three months, until May 29.
In this period, the INE will hold three electoral debates, all in Mexico City, in which the candidates will face each other: the first, on April 7; the second, on the 28th of the same month, and, the third, on May 19th.
