The Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc renewed his contract with the Ferrari team “beyond 2024”, as confirmed by the Formula 1 racer himself, although neither the driver nor the Italian brand revealed how many seasons the agreement is for.
“I am very happy to know that I will continue wearing the Ferrari ‘suit’ for several more seasons. Racing for this team was my dream since I was three years old: I used to watch the Monaco Grand Prix from the window of a friend’s apartment in the corner of Saint Devote and I was always looking for the red cars,” Leclerc confessed to the Motorsport.com site when announcing the extension of his relationship with Ferrari.
The 26-year-old Monegasque said: “This team is my second family since I joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016 and we have achieved a lot together, fighting against all odds in the last five years.”
“However – added the driver – I think the best is yet to come and I am looking forward to this season starting to continue progressing and being competitive in each race. My dream is still to win the World Championship with Ferrari and I am sure that in the future In the coming years we will enjoy great moments together and make our fans happy,” concluded the Monegasque driver.
For his part, Ferrari team boss Frederick Vasseur assured that this season the Ferrari will be very competitive: “We are determined to give Charles a winning car and I know that his determination and commitment are elements that can make the difference to the time to help us achieve our goals,” he said
Leclerc placed fifth in the overall driver classification of the 2023 F1 season, while his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz finished in seventh place.
