During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Rui Hachimura expressed his excitement about the arrival of his compatriot to the Dodgers and the impact they will have.
“I am very proud to be a Japanese athlete, I came from there, I grew up there and I came to the United States to play in the NBA, the best league in the world,” Hachimura began by saying. “It’s a different sport, but I’m in one of the most successful franchises in the world, the Lakers and so is he, but in baseball.”
“The MLB is the best league in the world and the Dodgers are one of the biggest franchises. As a Japanese, I am very proud and happy for him. “Ohtani motivated me personally,” the Lakers player concluded in the interview with the LA Times.
