Matanzas Sports Calendar 2024: International Competitions and Exciting Events

Matanzas, Jan 21 (ACN) The development of international competitions, in disciplines such as beach volleyball, judo and swimming, among others, will enhance the sports calendar in the province of Matanzas in 2024, sources from the territorial Sports Directorate disclosed.

According to an official document, the competition schedule includes the usual stop of the NORCECA beach volleyball circuit, next March and the third edition of the Gran Retto Open Water Crossing (September), in addition to the popular Varadero Marathon ( March).

Also notable on the list is the celebration of the Varadero Open Pan-American tournaments (April), judo, in the senior, youth, cadet and veteran categories, as well as the Gran Fondo Tour Sport for All, in the specialty of cycling (November ).

Jose Luis Gándara Martínez, director of Sports in the province, pointed out that for the first time the Caribbean Baseball Cup 5 (June), the Sun and Beach Festival in various disciplines and a 3×3 basketball championship (August) are planned. ).

The manager explained that this type of competitions will be carried out thanks to the possibility of having a unique infrastructure in the resort of Varadero, the main sun and beach resort in Cuba, and with the support of the sports federations on the Island, the company Cubadeportes SA and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

For 2024 in Matanzas, the celebration of other national and provincial events is planned, such as the completion of the II Elite Baseball League and the development of the LXIII National Series, the National Soccer League and the Superior Basketball League, among others.
