Mexican Baseball Player Randy Arozarena Extends Contract with Tampa Bay Rays and Receives Salary Increase

Randy Arozarena, Mexican baseball player, extended his contract with the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball and with this, he will have a new salary increase.

The Mexican baseball player was one of eight players who agreed to sign a new contract to avoid salary arbitration.

After an outstanding season with Tampa Bay and a historic participation in the World Baseball Classic where he represented Mexico and won the affection of Mexican fans.

What is Randy Arozarena’s new salary?

The Mexican reached a new salary agreement and signed a new contract of 8.1 million dollars for 2024.

With this figure he reached the largest contract in his family and exceeds the 4.15 million obtained in 2023 and represented the highest amount through arbitration for the Rayas.

In addition, it is the third largest salary on his team for next season: surpassed by Zach Eflin with 11 million dollars and Brandon Lowe with 8.75 million

Who is Randy Arozarena?

Randy Arozarena is originally from Pinar del Río, Cuba and although he started as a professional baseball player in his country, he came to Yucatán to be part of the Meridana League.

Thanks to his great talent, in 2016 he reached the Mexican Baseball League with the Toros de Tijuana. That same year he participated in the Mexican Pacific League with the Mayos de Navojoa, where he remained for three seasons.

In 2020 he came to the Tampa Bay Rays where he played his first World Series and lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his first season he achieved a couple of records with the wood and was named MVP of the American League, being the first rookie to do so.

The Mexican National Team player was also recognized with the National Sports Award in 2023, after an outstanding participation in the World Baseball Classic, finishing behind Japan and the United States.

Arozarena traveled to Mexico to receive the award presented by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“It is a great gesture that the Mexican people have adopted me as a son,” Randy mentioned after the National Sports Award ceremony.
