Navigating the Controversial Landscape of Waste Management: Deputy Mayor Alessia Tasso’s Perspective

Deputy Mayor Alessia Tasso

Another very delicate and controversial chapter has opened on waste management, in light of the blow to the balance of the 2023 TARI with the high bills that have reached Gubbio families due to the payment deadline set in a single solution for January 31st.

Deputy Mayor Alessia Tasso, with responsibility for the environment, decided to explain how the service works and the fate of the Colognola landfill. He also tried to justify the average increases of 8.5 percent up to 12 percent, compared to the regional average of 2.4 percent, arguing that “the adjustment in the cost of the service is minimal and leaves Gubbio with the primacy of Tari among the lowest in Umbria”.

The candidate in pectore of the LeD, who aims to bring together the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement in view of the June elections, does not highlight on the landfill that every year the Municipality remits 700 thousand euros with the now irrepressible economic losses that fall into the citizens’ pockets. And in highlighting the street sweeping activity even in the most distant hamlets, it does not underline that these interventions dramatically increase the costs borne by the entire community with a political debate which – even within the current majority – suggests to purely electoral operations in view of the vote in June.
