Nemecz started twelfth in Dubai

Lukas Nemecz got off to a promising start in his first golf tournament of the year with twelfth place. The Styrian achieved a round of 69 of three under par on Thursday at the $9 million Desert Classic in Dubai. He was two strokes behind the leading quartet. A few players were unable to complete their 18 holes due to darkness falling.

With par (72), Matthias Schwab was one shot behind defending champion Rory McIlroy in midfield (42nd). In his comeback on the World Tour, Bernd Wiesberger did not get past an opening round of 74 in 76th place, the Burgenlander has to improve to make the cut.
