Striker Julián Alvarez, world champion in Qatar 2022, scored a goal in Manchester City’s 5-0 victory over Huddersfield, at home, in the round of 32 of the FA Cup.
The cup day also had a goal from Argentine Nicolás Domínguez for Nottingham Forest, which tied 2-2 against Blackpool, and will have to play the “replay” to define the classification.
Alvarez started for City and scored 2-0 37 minutes into the first half. The Argentine national team forward also participated with an assist on the first goal of the game, scored by Phil Foden, and was then replaced 12 minutes into the second half.
In his place came the Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, who reappeared after five months absent due to injury. Foden, who crowned his double, Oscar Bobb and Jeremy Doku completed the victory of the team led by Josep Guardiola against Huddersfield, from the second division.
City are the latest FA Cup champions and comfortably advanced to the next round. Given the injury of scorer Erling Haaland, who has been out for seven games, the former River Plate player has established himself as a key piece of the “Ciudadanos” attack. In the last four games, he scored five goals and contributed two assists.
The other Argentine who is having a great moment in England is midfielder Nicolás Domínguez, who scored a new goal for Nottingham Forest.
After his shout in the victory against Manchester United (2-1) in the Premier League, the former Vélez Sarsfield scored, with a header, to start Forest’s comeback that lost 2-0 with the third division team and with a 2-2 tie must play the replay.
The 2021 Copa América champion received an assist from his compatriot Gonzalo Montiel, who also played from the start.
