OFFICIALLY. Defensive reinforcement for the Pallieters: Mickaël Tirpan signs with Lierse

With 38 goals conceded, Lierse is the worst student in the class in the Challenger Pro League. Defensive stability is therefore more than welcome at Lisp. Mickaël Tirpan (30) must provide a solution with all his experience: he was officially introduced on Wednesday evening.

Mickaël Tirpan successfully completed his medical tests at Lisp on Wednesday afternoon. The Brussels resident then signed a contract for 2.5 seasons. Tirpan comes over from Samsunspor, where he played seven games in the Turkish top flight before New Year. His contract was terminated.

For family reasons, Tirpan wanted to play football closer to home again. Valenciennes and Dunkerque from the French second division were options, but he comes to Lierse on a free transfer. With just under 100 matches in the Jupiler Pro League and 54 in the Challenger Pro League, Tirpan brings with him a mountain of experience.

“Ideal profile”

The arrival of a right back was one of Lierse’s top priorities. Pieter De Schrijver dropped out of the yellow-black team before the start of the competition with a serious knee injury. In recent months, Jarno Libert and Mehdi Tarfi have never been able to fill that void.

“It is no secret that we were looking for defensive reinforcement,” says Director of Football Affairs Dirk Gyselinckx on the club website. “With Mickaël we not only gain an ideal profile, but also a solid range of defensive experience at the highest level. We are happy that Mickael chose Lierse, because some domestic and foreign clubs were appealing to him.”
