No surprises in Sunday afternoon’s matches in the French Football Cup, but thirteen goals scored.

Prolific afternoon in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, Sunday January 7, with almost three goals per match on average over the first five matches. The only match between Ligue 1 clubs went to the advantage of AS Monaco, who qualified by a whisker on the pitch of Racing Club de Lens (2-2, 6-5 on penalties). During an endless penalty shootout, the two goalkeepers, Brice Samba and Radoslaw Majecki, made several saves. The French vice-champions had come back two goals in regulation time before cracking against the Polish goalkeeper. Monegasque defender Soungoutou Magassa, 20, had the last word in front of Brice Samba.

In the matches between representatives of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, Stade Rennes won at Guingamp (2-0) thanks to a double from Arnaud Kalimuendo, while Le Havre enforced the hierarchy against Norman neighbor Caen (2 -1). Olympique Lyonnais avoided the trap, in Pontarlier (3-0), just like OM in Thionville (1-0), thanks to the goal of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, silent in the three previous matches with the Marseille club.
