PGA Tour Kirk Takes Lead at Sentry

The wind having raged, the course defended itself at Kapalua. Chris Kirk has adapted best to the conditions (-21) but 13 players are within four shots at the start of the last round.

There are days like this when it’s no longer fun. Scottie Scheffler was in the lead after two rounds but he did not make a big putt in the third (71). Tyrrell Hatton had destroyed the course on Friday (62), but he was stepped on on Saturday (72). In this little game of regularity, Chris Kirk dominates the debates for the moment (67, 65, 66). The American took the lead by a breath ahead of Akshay Bhatia (-20), the 110th in the world having as only notable reference a success last year in the Barracuda Championship, contested in a modified Stabelford version, which also earned him his presence at the Sentry.

“After spending a lot of free time at home, when it was cold and I hadn’t trained much, I didn’t expect to play so well here”
