Hubert Hurkacz and Iga Świątek secured their place in the singles final against France.

In the first singles in the Ken Rosewall Arena, two-time Masters champion Hubert Hurkacz from Poland met Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. After the 26-year-old Hurkacz missed a break chance in the second game, he took the serve from his 35-year-old opponent in the fourth game. Without getting into trouble with his own service, the world number 9 fixed. with an ace on his second set point to win the first round.

After Mannarino was able to thwart a break chance in his first service game in the second act, both players confidently held their serves until the score was 5:5. Then Hurkacz earned the second opportunity in this round and used it consistently with a forehand winner down the line. The Warsaw player took the match home without losing a point and finished with a smash to win 6:3, 7:5 after 1:41 hours.

With the lead behind her, world number one Iga Swiatek had the chance to bring Poland into the final for the first time after reaching the semi-finals last year, where they suffered a 5-0 defeat against eventual winners USA in the old format.

Swiatek experienced strong resistance against former WTA world champion Caroline Garcia at the beginning of the game. After the 22-year-old Pole was unable to take advantage of three break chances in the second game, it was the Frenchwoman who managed the first break of the game in the seventh game and confidently took it to winning the set with only one point given up in the following two service games.

At the beginning of the second round, Swiatek found her way into the game better and made fewer mistakes, while the error rate for her Garcia increased. After a quick 5-0 lead, she only allowed her opponent one serve game before the four-time Grand Slam winner was able to equalize the set.

Even in the decision-making round, Swiatek didn’t allow himself to be dissuaded. After Garcia was able to fend off two break chances in her first service game at the beginning, she ultimately had to allow the break and had the WTA World Champion from Cancun’s further run to a 4:6, 6:1, 6:1 victory after 1 :47 hours nothing left to counter it.

In the final of the United Cup, the Polish team awaits the winner of the second semi-final match between Germany and hosts Australia.
