Currently, the list of registered participants has increased to more than 60 crews. Jānis Vorobjovs/Guntars Zicāns (“Vorobjovs Racing”) entered the race with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII”. A year ago, the experienced athletes finished the Alūksne rally in fifth place with this car. Vorobyov managed to win the Alūksne rally three times – it was in 2011, 2012 and 2014, when it was still a rally sprint.
Emil Blums/Didzis Eglītis (“Samsonas Motorsport”) will start with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX”. Last year in Alūksne, they ranked second in the absolute standings, losing only to the crew of Mārtiņš Seskas with the “Rally2” car, and triumphed in the LRČ5 group of the Latvian Championship.
Edijs Bergmanis/Ivo Pūkis (“Rallyworkshop”) are also preparing for the start, which will also compete with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX”. A year ago, the crew finished this rally in ninth place in the overall rating.
All three crews will compete in the LRČ5 group of the Latvian Rally Championship. Their competition will be the crew of Lithuanian pilot Ramūnas Čapkauska (“Čapkausko Autosportas”), which has also confirmed participation with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX”. Miks Ķenavs/Gundars Berķis with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI” will also start in the LRČ5 event. Kalvis Blums/Ralfs Lipstoks (“Rallyworkshop”) with “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo” and Mārtiņš Ločmelis/Harijs Vējiņš (“Rallyworkshop”) with “Subaru Impreza STI” had previously applied for participation.
Registration of participants for the first stage of the Latvian and Estonian rally championship “Rally Alūksne” continues. At the same time, this will also be the opening stage of the Latvian Rally Sprint Championship. The competition will take place on January 19 and 20.
