Rastorgujev 25th and Birkenthal 42nd place in the World Cup biathlon pursuit

Norwegian biathlete Endre Stremsheim won his first victory in the World Cup stages, whose previous highest place was the second place won in the pursuit in Lenzerheide in the previous stage. He double-faulted in the shootout, finishing in 33 minutes and 4.2 seconds.

The first five places were taken by Norwegians. The second place was won by Sturla Holm Lehreid with two penalty laps, 17.8 seconds behind Stremsheim, and the third by Johannes Däle-Ševdahl, who managed to reach the podium with one mistake in shooting after finishing 13th in the sprint, losing 36.4 seconds to the winner.

Brothers Tarjei and Johannes Tingnes Bé took the next places, finishing fourth and fifth respectively, with JTBé making three mistakes in the final shootout. Frenchman Fabien Claude took sixth place.

Rastorgujev made one mistake in shooting, missing the fourth shot while standing in the last shooting. This allowed him to take 25th place, losing two minutes and 48.4 seconds to the winner.

Birkenthals made a mistake once in both shootings while lying down, but shot flawlessly standing up, taking 42nd place in the competition of 58 biathletes and achieving a career record in the pursuit of the World Cup. He lost four minutes and 25.4 seconds to Stremsheim.

Birkentäls started in the pursuit this season only in Hochfilzen, where he ranked 48th, while Rastorgujev took 22nd place in Lenzerheide, as well as 29th in Esteshund and Hochfilzen.

The women, with the participation of Baiba Bendika, will start the ten-kilometer pursuit distance on the track at 3:40 p.m., the competition will be broadcast live on the TV channel LTV7.

There are nine rounds in the World Cup series this season, with the crystal globes handed out in mid-March at the Canadian circuit in Kenmore. The next round will take place next week at another German track in Rupolding.

The World Championship will be held in Nove Mesto from February 7 to 18, and the European Championship from January 21 to 28 – at the Slovakian track in Osrbl.
