Sick Striker Eren Dinkci Set to Join Promoted Team in Spain Training Camp

The sick striker was missing from the promoted team’s first training session, but will travel to the training camp in Spain.

On the first day of the new year, coach Frank Schmidt called his men back to duty. At 2 p.m. on Monday, the Heidenheim team completed their first training session of 2024 in rain and uncomfortable temperatures. Almost all of the newcomers showed up, but in addition to the long-term injured Thomas Keller and Elidon Qenaj (both torn cruciate ligaments), Eren Dinkci was also missing from the start. The loanee from Bremen is still slightly ill, but is scheduled to travel to the training camp on Tuesday.

The FCH now has a week in Spain coming up

The FCH professionals can then prepare for the rest of the season under much more pleasant conditions. As in previous years, the promoted team will be based in Algorfa, Spain, near Alicante, for a week and will therefore complete their units and a test match (on January 8th against second division team SC Paderborn) in familiar surroundings.

Top scorer Jan-Niklas Beste is also back on the dam; the 24-year-old missed the final game in 2023 due to illness. But even without his dangerous standards, Heidenheim turned their home game against Freiburg around and won 3-2 and filled the points account with points 18 to 20. This is also why Schmidt, whom kicker finally named “Personality of the Year 2023”, postponed the start of training into the new year.

The entourage will then return to Germany on January 9th, when they will begin the home stretch of preparation for the Bundesliga restart, which FCH will compete in in Cologne four days later. Then the next duel takes place with a direct competitor to stay in the league. And the Cologne team, who are currently a whopping ten points and eight places behind FCH, should be warned, because in a similar situation, Heidenheim recently scored their first away win in the Bundesliga (1-0) and particularly important points in Mainz.
