The technical commission of the Bolivian Basketball Federation (FBB), approved the holding of the U-25 men’s category national championship where the teams that compete in the Bolivian Basketball League (Libobásquet) will participate and Tarija will participate with a selection, players from the clubs of the main division that participate in the local tournament.
The championship, which will begin during the first week of February, will be a “serial” tournament and the Tarija association was accepted as one of the series of the first phase of the national championship. The clubs of Pichincha (Potosí), Calero (Potosí, Leones (Potosí), Universitario (Sucre), San Simón (Cochabamba), Juan Misael Saracho (Oruro), Básquetbol (La Paz) and Básquetbol (Tarija) will participate.
The tournament will be played without foreign reinforcements, only national players who are included in the U – 25 category will participate; The purpose of the basketball federation is to observe the level of national players participating in the Bolivian Basketball League (Libobásquet).
The leader of the La Salle club, Ricardo Peñaranda, said that several Tarija basketball clubs got together to define the team that will participate in the tournament. “It will be the Tarija team of the U – 25 category, we are working together with the clubs to define the selection and see the possibility that this team can compete this year in the Bolivian Basketball League (Libobásquet),” he said. leader of the La Salle club, Ricardo Peñaranda.
On the other hand, he said that over the next few days they will define the coach who will work with the squad, during the next few weeks they will carry out combined physical and technical work, in addition, they will define the list of players who will be taken into account for the sports event.
Peñaranda indicated that the club has players who have a good level of play, they have even played Libobásquet matches, however, the coach who takes charge of the team will have the responsibility of forming the Tarija team. Another of the tasks that the organizers of the event will carry out is related to the logistical part for the development of the tournament.
