The Controversy Surrounding Patrick Mahomes’ NFL Pro Bowl Selection

The selection of Patrick Mahomes to the NFL Pro Bowl roster has caused a stir among fans and analysts after one of this season’s best quarterbacks snubbed.

Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl 57 in 2022but this season has been disappointing for the 28-year-old by his usual high standards.

The Chiefs are 10-6 after a drop in form heading into the playoffs, with Mahomes’ form taking a nosedive. Meanwhile, other quarterbacks, such as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, have received praise across the board.

Nevertheless, Allen was left off the Pro Bowl roster in favor of Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins.

And Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd claimed that “can’t take Pro Bowl seriously” after being snubbed in favor of Mahomes.

“The NFL does a lot of things right, [pero] the Pro Bowl is not one of them,” said. “Josh Allen leads the NFL with 42 touchdowns…he didn’t make the Pro Bowl. If the Bills win against Miami this weekend, I think they will, they’ll be the number two seed.”

He later added: “Mahomes, who had the worst year of his career, also did it.Mahomes and Josh Allen have the same number of touchdown passes, 27. Allen has 15 rushing touchdowns, Mahomes has zero. Josh Allen beat Mahomes head-to-head, has 15 more total touchdowns. The turnovers are fair, the teams are 10 and six.

Mahomes did it, Allen didn’t, and I love Mahomes, but the Bills offense scores 27 points per game. The Chiefs offense under perhaps the smartest offensive coach of our lifetime, Andy Reid, scores 22. Again, I don’t know. …maybe the 15 additional rushing touchdowns impacted that.”

Why wasn’t Josh Allen selected?

Allen leads NFL touchdown charts with 42 total and the AFC with 13. He is tied with Jalen Hurts for the most rushing touchdowns in a single season with 15, in addition to 3,947 passing yards this season.

There are a few reasons why Allen wasn’t named to the Pro Bowl roster.

Despite standing out by accumulating a large number of touchdowns, he also He has proven to be a risky passer with 16 interceptions, an average of one per game.

He has also turned the ball over six times this year. (a record number in his career) and has lost three of them. He has so far committed 19 turnovers in 16 games, which may suggest that he is less reliable than Mahomes.
