The Investigative Police and the Judo Federation of Chile form an important alliance. In the premises of the School of Police Investigations, both entities are carrying out the International Training Camp 2024.
The concentration, which is held for the third consecutive year, brings together the best judokas in the country. In addition, there are also important representatives from countries such as Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Bolivia, El Salvador and Puerto Rico. In total, 128 athletes have gathered, who are preparing for the different competitions they will have during the year.
“In that search for interaction with the environment, we found in sport, in the discipline of judo, as a school, a space that was asked of us. It is not at a competitive level, but it is a rigorous level of training, which brings together athletes, both from Chile, national and international teams, and also from the armed forces and law enforcement,” indicated the Prefect Inspector Ricardo Quiroz, director of the PDI Police Investigation School.

“It has served to strengthen our own capabilities in terms of the discipline of judo. In the performance of their professional duties, these skills will be used, for example, to confront a criminal without the use of lethal force being necessary to reduce their movements in the event of opposition or resistance in a police procedure,” he added.
Meanwhile, Marcelo Simián, president of the Judo Federation, valued the initiative: “This concentration aims to generate high-level training. These are directed by the national team coaches, Juan Herrera and Fernando Salazar, under the watchful eye of the federation’s technical commission,” he commented.
“This activity is quite unprecedented in Chile. We have been developing it together with the PDI since January 2023, this is the third edition, and it has been gaining momentum and very important growth (…) It is a very important opportunity. Judo, these last two years, has coincidentally had its best results in history,” he concluded.
