Born in Philadelphia, Wilt Chamberlain became a legend for the City of Brotherly Love but also for the entire big league. However, there is another player from the same place who deserves almost as much recognition, according to a former Hall of Famer teammate.
During the 1960s through the early 1970s, Wilt Chamberlain racked up records that seem insane today. We could start with his 100-point game that no one has yet equaled or surpassed, but life would almost be too short to list all his exploits. Regardless, the former 76ers had built a legend, and his name is engraved in the Philly pantheon.
However, it turns out that other stars who have passed through the league were born in the same city of Philadelphia. Among them is former Trail Blazers interior Rasheed Wallace. Former teammate of the Hall of Famer, Vince Miller was keen to highlight the qualities he had seen during the latter’s high school years, as reported by journalist Ted Silary in 1993.

Rasheed Wallace is potentially the best player to come from Philadelphia since Wilt Chamberlain. People don’t agree, but they didn’t attend the games. Rasheed Wallace has played for many teams, but it was with the Pistons that he was able to win his only NBA championship title in 2004. And as tradition almost obliged him to Detroit, the latter had the reputation of being a big trash-talker, not to mention his all-time record for technical fouls. During his high school years, Rasheed Wallace was so impressive that he even seduced Wilt Chamberlain’s former teammate, Vince Miller.
