MADRID, 12 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Dutch cyclist Fem van Empel will participate in the women’s event of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup-Benidorm Costa Blanca, on Sunday, January 21, and will give more luster to a test that, in its men’s heat, will also feature the world champion Mathieu van der Poel.

In this way, the circuits of the El Moralet and Foietes Parks will host the two current Elite cyclocross world champions: Van Empel in the women’s heat and Mathieu Van der Poel in the men’s.

“Two rainbow jerseys who will be accompanied by Wout van Aert, Tom Pidcock, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and Puck Pieterse to make up an enviable cast,” the organization highlighted in a statement.

Fem van Empel is one of the biggest stars of the moment in women’s world cyclocross. Reigning world and European champion, she was the winner of the inaugural edition of the UCI-Benidorm Costa Blanca Cyclocross World Cup held in January last year.

In this cyclocross campaign, the Visma team cyclist | Lease a Bike has won 14 of the 16 events she has competed in, including the Waterloo, Maasmechelen and Antwerp World Cups.

“Fem van Empel was already in Benidorm last year and made us vibrate,” explained Pascual Momparler, head of Momparler Cycling, organizing company of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca. “She completes the female Big Three alongside Alvarado and Pieterse, complementing the male Big Three that we already announced. We are an egalitarian event, which cares for men and women equally in terms of impact, awards and attention,” he recalled.
