Three French Archers Licensed for Paris 2024 Olympic Games

After four months of flawless Olympic preparation, there are three archers licensed in Auvergne clubs to have successfully passed the 2nd selection stage leading to Paris 2024. For the Riomois Lisa Barbelin and Caroline Lopez, as well as for Clermont-based stadium runner Thomas Chirault, the path is paved towards the Parisian Olympics next summer and marked by future events on the international circuit, with the French recurve team.

At the end of 4 days of intense battle during its 2nd stage of Olympic selection, the French Archery Federation (FFTA) has determined the four women and four men who will participate in the international season as the French archery team. classic, the apotheosis of which will be held on the Esplanade des Invalides for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Gathered at the CREPS in Talence, near Bordeaux, from January 8 to 11, eight archers continue their Olympic adventure and will represent France in the 2024 season. Among the women, we find Lisa Barbelinpresent in Tokyo in 2021, and Caroline Lopezboth members of the Archers Riomois and vice-world team champions last August.

These two experienced archers will have alongside them the young Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) and Victoria Sebastian (Nîmes), for whom this will be a first season in the senior team.

The men’s team will be made up of Jean-Charles Valladont (Nîmes), silver medalist in Rio in 2016 and who is aiming for his 4th participation in the Olympic Games. By his side, Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand) who we have already seen in Tokyo and who marks his return to the French team. Baptiste Addis (Nîmes) and Nicolas Bernardi (Rennes), who after a first season with the seniors last year, are back to defend the colors of France in 2024.

These eight newly selected archers will therefore represent the French recurve team collective, the Olympic discipline, for the coming season.

They will take part in a busy program of internships, role-playing, national and international events, in order to best prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

It is at the end of June that only three women and three men among them will be definitively selected to participate in this Olympic dream in France, the Paris Olympic Games.
